We keep this simple. On your first visit we ask before setting anything beyond what this site needs to work, and you can change your mind whenever you like. This page lists exactly what we set, who sets it, how long it lasts and what it does.
Who we are, and the law we work to
Harbour Studios is based in Guernsey. We handle personal data under the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017, and our supervisory authority is the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA). Because we also work with clients and visitors in the UK and the EU, we apply the stricter of the standards that could apply to you, including the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can remember things between pages and visits. First-party cookies are set by this site, for example to remember your privacy choices. Third-party cookies are set by other companies whose tools we use. Some information is kept in your browser rather than as a cookie, and we list that here too, because the effect on you is the same.
Until you make a choice, only strictly necessary items are used. Analytics and marketing cookies are switched off by default, are never pre-ticked, and are not set without your consent.
The cookies we use
Necessary
Always on, and cannot be switched off.
- hs_cookie_consent_v1 (Harbour Studios, kept until you clear your browser data). Remembers your cookie choice, so that we do not ask again and so that we can honour it. It is stored in your browser and never sent to us, which makes it browser storage rather than strictly a cookie.
Analytics
Off until you allow it. These tell us how the site is used so we can improve it. We do not use them to identify you personally.
- _ga (Google Analytics, 2 years). Tells one visitor apart from another.
- _ga_1P2BVQTBKQ (Google Analytics, 2 years). Keeps session state for this site’s Analytics property.
- __hstc (HubSpot, 6 months). HubSpot’s main tracking cookie: when you visited and where you came from.
- hubspotutk (HubSpot, 6 months). Identifies you as a visitor, and links a contact form enquiry to how you found us.
- __hssc (HubSpot, 30 minutes). Tracks your current session.
- __hssrc (HubSpot, until you close your browser). Records whether you restarted your browser.
Marketing
Off until you allow it.
- _gcl_au (Google Ads, 90 days). Measures whether an advert click led to an enquiry.
Who we share this with
Analytics data goes to Google (Google Analytics) and to HubSpot, who process it on our behalf. Marketing data goes to Google Ads. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to identify you personally.
Managing your choices
You can review or change your consent at any time, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it. Open your cookie settings below, or use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking necessary items may stop parts of the site working as intended.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017 you have rights over your personal data, including the right to ask what we hold, to have it corrected or erased, and to complain. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Data Protection Authority in Guernsey.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the tools we use change. Any updates will appear on this page.
